Answerspay - a brand new earning opportunity
The internet is a source of information, and many people use Google to find out a particular piece of information. Questions like ‘What is Justin Bieber’s cell phone number’ and ‘What is the meaning of life’ show the variety of subjects ranging from purely informational to very philosophical questions that exist on the web.
As the trend for these questions grows there are quite a few websites emerging that will provide these answers and some of them even allow you to earn Google Adsense from them.
I have used Maholo, Yahoo and Webanswers and out of these, Webanswers is my favorite so far, but there are some shortfalls and frustrations with a site like Webanswers and thus I am always looking for alternatives.
I recently came across a brand new site that is in Beta and actually only currently has three members (as I write this hub). Being experienced in these type of sites and being a quite successful ‘answerer’ on other sites I decided to see what this site and what potential it had.
First Impressions of Answerpay
One thing I immediately liked was that the site is very simple to look at. It presents questions and answers on the front page and barely anything else. I immediately can delve into answering questions (after signing up) without having to try and understand what all the other information was about.
What I liked
- I liked the setup immediately – it shows me the question, shows a ‘vote’ for the question and the number of answers – that’s all I need to know.
- I was a little concerned not to see categories, but realize that the site uses tags to differentiate between question types and doesn’t rely on the user to categories a question correctly – I like this!
- Sign up was very easy, and while it wasn’t quite obvious what part of my Google Adsense account to put in (sometimes you don’t put in the ca) I added mu account number and continued on through the setup – this took less than five minutes and I began to answer questions soon after.
- Revenue share is very generous – I think it should be tweaked a little, but I love the fact that admin are only taking 10% of the impressions, giving 70% to an awarded answer and 10% to the questioner and all other answers.
- Formatting – this is the most exciting aspect for me. When posting an answer you are able to format the answer. You can change the font, the font color and background, highlight, underline and links, add pictures and flash and also incorporate tables. This is superb and really gives me the tools to provide decent and productive answers.
What I didn’t like
Please note that the site is brand new (opened February 2011) and therefore the designers will take on board criticism and improve the site over time, so my observations are of a very young site. Here are my initial dislikes:
- There is no information on how the user score is calculated - I like the idea of being able to see a users score, but if I don’t know how to increase my score then it will be frustration. Perhaps there needs to be a FAQ section that will answer all the possible questions that new users will get.
- No referrals – currently the site does not have a referral system; a referral system would allow users to benefit from bringing other users, but this would require a chance in the impression share formula – it’s actually hard to say whether this would be a benefit to the site other than bringing in new users.
Competitors
- Webanswers is by far the biggest competitor in terms of generating additional residual income. While websanswers has some problems it is well established and users do earn a nice income from using the site. It is easy to use and has decent SEO. (Join here – I will add a link).
- Yahoo Answers is the most used Q&A site on the web and has a huge amount of users, however, aside from the ability of promoting Associated Content articles in answers, there are no other benefits of answering questions. (Will provide link)
- Mahalo is one of the better looking Q&A websites, however the ability to earn real cash from the answers was recently taken away and although you can earn ‘products’ there really isn’t a huge amount of incentive to use the site. (will provide link)
Conclusion
Answerpay has a lot of catching up to do with Webanswers, Yahoo Answers and Mahalo. At this time it’s hard to tell what sort of background Search Engine Optimization is being done – quite simply it may be a great site, but if the answers are not appearing on Google and at least getting a decent amount of google ad impressions then users will leave.
So far though I like the site; it’s easy to use, has great formatting options, and if the site is promoted well then it has the potential to build a nice residual income for users.
I note that the site needs new members to help build it. The more members the better quality answers that will be posted; also early members will be able to make suggestions for improvements and hopefully shape the site for the future - there's no harm giving it a try - so go and join. Joining a site like answerpays.com is an investment in time and effort. You will not get rich quickly, but by working hard to help build a new site you eventually will reap the benefits with a nice residual income. It’s highly likely that early adopters of a new site like this will earn the most eventually!
Disclaimer: I have been asked by the owner to review the site and to assist in promoting it. I will not earn a fee for doing this; I am writing the opinion above as an objective observer and one who wants to see more options for earning on the web. I am not influenced by what the owner of the site wants me to write on here and any links I provide to questions will only be to questions I feel are of sufficient quality and will enhance a hub of mine. I see this as a good opportunity to get in at the start of a new site; it requires effort on my part, but I understand that there is not guarantee I will ever see any Google Adsense revenue due to this site.

I just signed up for this site. I really like how they are doing things so hopefully they can grow into a real contender. There is definitely real potential in a site like this.
I see several hubbers on there already so maybe the exposure here will give Answerpay the boost that they need.
