Valentine's day should be something to remember

Valentine’s day should be special – simply going out an buying a dozen roses or a box of chocolates does not show how much you love someone, it shows how much you understand about romance and the meaning of Valentine’s day – diddly squat!

The idea of Velentine’s day is that you make the effort to show how much you love someone, and joining corporate America by buying something commercial is the last thing you should do. While chocolates and flowers can form part of the romantic experience, they should not be the be all and end all of the day.

Romance is the key, and below you will find some fun ideas that will make your loved one feel special:

Valentine’s picnic

Picnics are always fun, but as Valentine’s day is in February it’s not always feasible to go for a picnic – so why not plan an indoor picnic. Spread a blanket on the floor, sprinkle some rose petals, surround the room with romantic candles and pack a picnic basket with your loved one’s favorite treats. Make a wonderful dinner that can be eaten on the floor.

Re-create your first date?

Remember the nerves you had on your first date? Would she/he like you? Would you be able to keep a conversation going? Would there be a first kiss? Would we go on a second date?

Bring those nostalgic memories back by recreating your first date – try and do exactly what you did on your first date – go to the same restaurant, wear the same clothes etc.

Chocolate Roses

While you should stay away from commercial Valentine’s day, buying unique gifts that take time and planning can be good as long as they are part of the whole day. Buy some chocolate roses, or even better makes some chocolate covered strawberries (in the shapes of hearts) – the more personal the chocolates, and the more effort you put in to get them or make them the better.

Cover the car in hearts

Quite often when a couple get married their car is covered in streamers and hearts etc. Why not surprise your loved one and do this to their car on Valentine’s day. Use some red and pink streamers and makes some large paper hearts for the windows.

Special T-Shirts

Get his and her shirts with something like “I love her’ and a big arrow pointing towards your loved one.

Novelty Photos

Try and find places where you can go and get a novelty photo taken – perhaps something like Bonnie and Clyde would be strangely romantic, or Tom and Jerry – adding a little humor and pairing up as famous couples is a great way to celebrate Valentine’s day.

Treat her special

Women like to be pampered – so pamper her with a trip to the spa; get her booked for a massage and facial and when she is finished take her to her favorite restaurant and a movie

Conclusion

Making Valentine’s day special takes thought and doesn’t necessarily have to cost a lot of money – the key is to make the day special and unique – be different and show effort and the day will be one that you will both remember forever.

SimeyC,

I hope all men put as much thought into Valentine's Day, as you. And no it does not have to cost a lot, but making her feel how special she is to you is the KEY. And I believe you know how to do that. And it depends on where you live on the 14th of Feb., because a moonlight night horse back ride with a picnic basket of cheese, crackers and wine is nice also.

A very good hub.

Great Hub and you've hit the nail on the head as to what most women want. Most of us don't want lots of money spent on us, but that can be nice too.

For the most part we want some thought and a gift that was thought about that we would actually like. Not something generic that you could have bought for any woman off the street. Chocolates and roses have become so cliche.
