Top Toys For Christmas 2011: Mindflex Game
65Top Toys For Christmas 2011: Mindflex Game
Remember those old wooden games where you had to guide a metal ball around a wooden maze? Well add the latest technology and you come up with Mindflex. This intriguing game uses a lightweight headset that has sensors for your forehead and earlobes; the sensors measure your brainwave activity (yes I said brainwave) and based on how much you focus and concentrate, raises a ball up in the air with a gentle stream of air, or lowers the ball when you relax. So, with a combination of physical prowess and metal co-ordination you can guide the ball through a customizable obstacle course.
So is it for real?
Absolutely – this game is strangely addictive and while it really is simply a guide the ball through a maze game, the ability to do this with the power of the mind makes this highly fun and impressive. You may have seen similar things on Star Trek, but the sensors do a really good job of detecting your brain waves and the ball really does move based on your thoughts! Cool or wot?
Obstacle Courses
The obstacle course is customizable, so you can set up a very easy or difficult cause depending on your abilities (that should improve the more you practice!). With hoops, funnels, hurdles etc to play with you do have a lot of scope to create some weird and wacky courses.
Difficulty
This game is designed to reward patience and experimentation and may prove difficult for some children who do not have strong concentration techniques – there is a booklet that gives ideas on how to improve your skills, but the game could become extremely frustrating for some.
