Torchlight Quick review
This game is a relatively straight forward hack and slash adventure game set in a mining town called Torchlight. It was founded when a rare ore called Ember was found. This ore is a powerful magical ore that can enchant and corrupt! It is very valuable and many take risks to gain it!
You play one of three character classes and are tasked with saving the town as evil threatens to over-run it. With the dangerous caverns you must battle monster and find out what has corrupted the mines.
While not a great game it does have random dungeons and therefore has replayability as one of its factors. Generally it is a well constructed game with decent graphics and sound, but may not be challenging enough for some, or in depth enough for others.
Having said that, it is a fun jaunt that may just relieve the boredom!
How to Cheat in Torchlight
Firstly, it should be noted that you are editing a game file so you should always make a backup of your game – you can always re-install but it’s possible you may destroy all your save files. Secondly, by cheating you potentially:
- spoil the fun of the game
- destroy the save files
Like many games, this game has a console that allows you to enter cheat codes. To enable the console you have to amend the settings.txt file:
- Search for the ‘settings.txt’ file (Usually located in you ‘My Documents’ fodler under ‘Application Data/RunicGames/Torchlight
An example folder: C:/Documents and Settings/USERNAME/Application Data/Runic Games/Torchlight
Where USERNAME is the name you log on to the PC (often called Admin).
- Right click on the ‘settings.txt’ file and click edit
- Find the setting Console:0 and change this to Console:1
- Log on to the game and load a save game
- Press the ~ key to access the console.
