Skyrim Walkthrough: The throat of the world
89Check out the stunning graphics.
The one thing that has impressed me with Skyrim is the amazing graphics. I have a fairly high powered PC and am able to have the setting on High – at this level I am stunned by the little touches and by the atmosphere the game sets. I simply cannot imagine what the grpahics are like on the top setting! From what I've seen of the PS3 and XBOX 360 versions, the graphics are similar to the PC on High setting, with perhaps a few minor flaws and not quite the same level of detail!
This quest shows off the graphics of the game; there’s superb weather effects, amazing sunsets, great structures and some pretty impressive animation – it’s all about the detail, and Elder Scroll V Skyrim has really raised the bar high.
There are a couple of games that come close but none have the overall feel of this game – this really adds to the whole package making Skyrim perhaps the top Role Playing Game to have hit the PC ever. I simply cannot wait to see what other competitors do in answer - or even if they can compete.

Skyrim Walkthrough: The throat of the world
As you make your way back to High Hrothgar you can almost sense that great things are happening. You should already have given the Horn of Jurgen to the Greybeards so should be able to complete training. Talk to Arngeir and you’ll find out how alduin was defeated. You’ll be told about Paarthurnax.
Go to the courtyard to learn the Clear Skies Shout – this is an important Shout that will assist in clearing ice storms on the way to the Throat of the World. Head south and climb – you’ll be using Clear Skies often to get rid of storms. Be aware of Ice Wraiths – they are very dangerous – try and defeat with ranged attacks if you can – as always, fire will help against ice. Mellee and archery aren’t as effective because of the Ice Wraith’s speed.
Eventually you’ll arrive at the Throat of the world – it’s quite a long journey so you may be low on potions by this point. Talk with Paarthurnax – you will be told that you need to find an Elder Scroll – sadly the location is unknown. You can learn Fire Breath and also get a boost to a word of power – you must talk to Paarthurnax again to get this.
Head back down the mountain and speak with Arngeir again – he suggests that the Mage’s College in Winterhold may hold an answer. Winterhold is northeast – it’s a long trek, so stock up with potions or grab a wagon. You cannot simply enter Winterhold but must join the guild. Near the walkway to the college you should find Faralda – speak to her and join the guild.
Faralda will ask you to cast Firebolt on the front entrance tile; head into the college and find the Arcanaeum.
Talking to Urag gro-Shub will gain you a book on Elder Scrolls – find the author (Septimus Signus) to find the Elder Scrolls location.
The Signus Outpost is north of the college – it’s a very steep incline and you may not be able to go directly north – you can try zig-zagging but it’s likely to take a long time, so you might want to double back to below the city and head north from there. You’ll get a few nasty encounters along the way, but overall you should be fine.
You’ll meet the ‘strange’ Signus and eventually he will give you a magic cube and spear and tell you the location of the Elder Scroll – Alftand.

this dragon wont stop attacking me and wont talk to me
martin: who paarthurnax? if so its probably because you attacked him if it dosent say paarthurnax when you approach its probably just another random dragon encounter.

That's a real good walkthrough on the throat of the world quest. I went up there at level 8 and met with those pesky ice wraiths, so i simply ran past them and managed to get away.
Those damn ice wraiths!! Kill me every time. No matter what I do, I can't defeat them!!
I made the mistake of shooting the dragon (Paarthurnax)and now he won't stop attacking me. What do I do?
p.s, I saved at this spot so when I die I come back to him attacking me.
How long does it take septimus to contact you after you give him the lexicon?
@morganne load a previous save there is nothing else you can do
