High Quality Portable HD Video Cameras

By

A revolution in video cameras.

About a years ago I bought a DVD write-able cam-corder that records in High Definition – it’s a decent device and is not too heavy – however, at times it does get a little cumbersome and I find myself only bringing it out on special occasions.

With the advent of social networking and sites like You Tube, the prevalence of video has increased, and many people (particularly teenagers) are looking for an alternative to the more professional video cameras and therefore the cool Flip video cameras are becoming more and more popular.

The Flip UltraHD Camcorder Highlights:

-It is probably the simplest HD camera in the world – it has a very simple shoot and share functionality that allows you to simply press record and capture superb quality HD video very quickly and easily.

-As it is so small, it is easy to carry around and therefore can be used almost anywhere – this leads to the type of spontaneity that is highlighted on Youtube! How many times have you been somewhere when you wished you had a camera to capture some funny event?

-This little device produces 720p high quality HD – with 8GB of in built memory you can capture 2 houts of HD video and with a HDMI output you can view it very quickly on most modern HD TVs.

-With some pre-installed software it becomes very easy to organize and share your videos.

-With a click of a button you can quickly and easily transfer videos to Facebook, Youtube and other social media sites.

What other options are there?

Kodak Playsport HD Waterproof Video Camerathere’s really not much difference between this and the Flip – it’s a little cheaper and perhaps doesn’t quite feel as solid, but if you’re not worried about the name then this is perhaps a good alternative.

Sony MHS-CM5 bloggie HD Video Camera (Violet) – yet again a similar concept – made by Sony this little camera feels more like a real video camera, and produces pretty decent videos – with Sony’s renowned quality you can’t go wrong with this video camera – it is aimed directly at the blogger.

Digital Cameras -Many of the modern digital cameras now have the facility to record video. Some of these, particularly the Canons allow you to record pretty decent videos (not quite HD quality in most cases though) and in addition allow you to take some stunning pictures.

While the Flip UltraHD camera does allow you to take snapshots, you do not have the versatility of a digital camera.

If you’re not that worried about getting the best quality video, but are more into getting decent videos that can be posted online, then you may want to consider a digital camera.

Conclusion

You do not need a top quality video recorder if you’re just interested in posting fun videos for social media sites so the Flip or one of the alternatives is definitely a good cheap device that can be carried around – it’s almost ‘disposable’ in a way – if you drop and break it, you haven’t lost much money – if you drop a top HD video recorder you’ve lost $1,000+.

The only concerns you have is which one to buy – do you go at the general video recorder, or with the more versatile digital camera – the choice is yours.
