Final Fantasy XIII: Boss Guide
94Final Fantasy XIII Boss Help
There’s no doubt that the Final Fantasy series is excellent, however one of the biggest problems I have with the games is that sometimes the bosses are simply too hard and if you don’t have the right strategy you come to a grinding halt. Final Fantasy XIII is no exception; there are some easy boss battles, but there are some extremely tough battles.
This website is designed to give you some hints and tips to defeat the bosses, without giving all the secrets away – I have some more detailed pages for some of the tougher battles – good luck!
Final Fantasy XIII Boss Battles - General Strategies
General tips:
- Always buff up at the beginning of the battle.
- Try and de-buff the boss straight away
- Use LIBRA to find out the weakness.
- Use the right paradigm at the right time:

Diversity – attack while healing
Solidarity – heal but jeeps chain gauge steady
Relentless assault – builds up the chain gauge
- Use launch when bosses are staggered
- Use Eidolons to get out of trouble – with the Gestalt Sequence you get a ‘free heal’ of all party members.
- Watch out for ‘big attacks’ – if you can anticipate them, you can get into the correct paradigm to minimize damage.
For most battles I give simple strategies on this web page; for some of the more difficult battles I provide a link to a more detailed web page.
THE PULSE VESTIGE
Boss: Anima
This is a nice introduction into boss battles and is one of the easiest bosses you will come across. Concentrate on the left and right arms first and then go for the main body. Watch for re-spawns and keep up with the same strategy, using healing potions if needed – you really shouldn’t have any problem with this battle.
BRESHA LAKE
- Boss: Manasavin Warmech
The Manasavin Warmech isnt one of the hardest bosses on Final Fantasy XIII, but if youre not aware of the strategy that it uses against you then youll most likely fail. Firstly, before doing anything...
Boss: Guarda Interceptor
This is a relatively easy battle and doesn’t require too much strategy. Use Libra to eat up his health – use the relentless assault paradigm until the cut scene starts. Your health will be replenishes. Continue to use Relentless Assault and Diversity until Guarda Interceptor is worn down.
Boss: Shiva and Nix
This seems like a tough battle but there is a very simple technique to win this one. Change Snow to Sentinel and use Auto Guard – timing is important; you want to guard when Shica attacks him. The ‘gauges’ should fill pretty quickly on this battle and allow you to win this one very simply.
THE VILE PEAKS
Boss: Odin
This is one of the harder battles so far and it can take a few times to get right. You really need to get your buffs set before the battle – use Aegisol and Fortisol if you have them. Keep on healing and curing until you fill Odin’s chain gauge.
Use the symbiosis parafigm if needed to cast cure and buffs, then switch to the War and Peace paradigm. Watch for Odin to use his shield and then switch to dual-caster paradigm and you should be able to begin to fill the chain gauge quickly – keep on switching between these two paradigms until the chain gauge is full – this will allow you end the battle quickly.
THE GAPRA WHITEWOOD
- Boss: Aster Protoflorian
Aster Protoflorian is a boss that you will meet at the end of Gapra Whitehood; so far, this is probably the toughest boss you have faced especially as you only have Lightning and Hope. Aster Protoflorian...
THE SUNLETH WATERSCAPE
- Boss: Enki and Enlil
This is the first boss battle in which you have to fight two bosses at the same time in Final Fantasy XIII. So how do you beat Enki and Enlil? Well this is a tough fight but as long as you have the right...

PALUMPOLIM
- Boss: Ushumgai Subjugator.
This is one of those battles where a little luck comes in handy as Ushumgal Subjugator can do some serious damage very quickly. As Hope doesnt have much HP this can become a problem very quickly. ...
Boss: Ushumgal Subjugator (Second battle)
Surprisingly this battle is far easier than the first time. Use Libra until Hope dies and then Lightning and Fang join the fight. Switch to the Evened Odds paradigm and buff your characters – if possible, debuff Ushumgai.
Use Relentless Assault to get the chain gauge moving – heal when needed until the boss is staggered – the battle is easy at this point.
- Boss: The Havoc Sky Tank
One of the hardest boss types to deal with are the ones with multiple parts. The Havoc Skytank is no exception, and this is one of the harder fights you will come across as you play through Final...

NAUTILUS
- Boss: Midlight Reaper
In Final Fantasy XIII you meet some pretty tough bosses. The Midlight Reaper isnt the most difficult boss in the game, but due to the high HP it can be a long battle if you dont have the right strategy....
Boss: Brynhilder
Use the Tide Turner and cast Haste on both characters – this boos is really fast and you really need haste up and running to have any chance. Use war and peace to heal and then start using Dualcasting – you should be able to defeat the boss just using these two paradigms, but keep an eye on your HP, and rebuff if necessary.

I myself have killed Bartandelus using Lightning, Hope, and Vanille. What you need to do is train some good 20-50minutes, which sounds daunting but you must have nice and high skills! Then you should use any of your sols' if you have any to make things easier, as it is a long battle for a game (He has 462000 HP). So, what I done was Hero's charge (COM/SYN/MED) for nice and quick buffs, then use Diversity (COM/RAV/MED) for much of the battle, try Relentless assault if you can on the smaller enemies, though I would stick to having a medic. Now, if you played that part right you should of killed all the small enemies without anyone getting KO'd. After this, you want to keep to Diversity for most of the battle, FYI don't try and stagger him now, he can't. Now he will mostly by using weaker attacks which, if you buffed yourself up, should take little health off, so you can carry on attacking him. When he casts his penultimate spell, Destrudo, you might want to have 2 medics if your doubting you will stay alive, then quickly switch back. Though don't try that too much as if you take too long, he will Doom you. If you get doomed, not all is lost (I got doomed myself by him), if he on around 30K health, you may want to go all out as he should be killed quickly, and well, with a stroke of luck, you should of killed Bartandelus! Hopefully this can help you make the daunting battle easier...
theres has been noting that has helped me i cant beat this guy. please some one hlp me hypnotiqspmg@aol.com email me any help.
yo
I killed Barthandelus in 10min 33secs with under-developed characters, meaning I did not once CP grind at all and ran through about 20% of the monsters. I used light, vanille and sazh, light and vanille were healers and sazh was synergist, I also used vanille to debuff the boss, the 3.3 mil health he has is scary at first, but you will learn that you need to buff yourself and debuff him ASAP, so syn/med/sab was my initial para. and after the first stagger I got him down to 1.8mil from 3.3 mil. With com/rav/rav...
after this you shoud quickly heal and buff your group, basically rinse and repeat.. but on the next stag. I used Odin, and he was then left with just over 1mil health, I dint have enough TP to summon him again so what I did was heal, buff, debuff then stagger him, as soon as I staggered him my party was gonna die so I used the "renew" ability it healed everyone, so with full stagger and my party fully healed and buffed, the rest of his hp was cake :) I must say though some of this battle has to do with luck and how quick you are on switching roles at the right time... Maybe this helps..
Previously I was stuck at the exact same spot as you; on the second part of the battle with Bartandelus. I was holding my own but he would eventually kill me with Doom. This was a surprise to me since I had completely maxed out the levels of my characters. That being said, up to this point I had yet to upgrade any of my weapons. Surprisingly, leveling up your weapons increases your characters strength and magic points.
I am now certain that the game uses the Bartandelus boss to force you to begin upgrading your weapons. Further evidence I have for this is that the place you are stuck at, just happens to be one of the best places to obtain the Gil needed to do this upgrading.
In that large slopping room just before the Bartandelus boss, you will find that after fighting enemy characters they often drop 'credit chips' and 'incentive chips'. Note that the 'star' ratting you get after your battles does influence what is dropped. You can sell these chips for a handsome amount of Gil, 500 and 2500 respectively. Use this money to buy 'crankshafts' from 'Lenora's Garage' and then proceed to upgrade your weapons with these crankshafts. I suggest using crankshafts since they give you the best 'upgrade bang' for your Gil.
Now if you want to really fancy, you can also buy 36 'Vibrant Ooze' from the 'Creature Comforts' store. If you upgrade your weapons with these 36 Vibrant Ooze before upgrading with the crankshafts, you will get a 3x multiplier on the crankshaft upgrade. In other words, the crankshafts do three times the upgrading. Doing this trick it will take you an hour or two to get all of your characters weapons to level 26. Once here I had no issues beating Bartandelus.
If he casts doom on you, and you know you can't finish him before the counter ends, summon. When I summoned, the doom timer ran out and my summon brought me back to life, as well as healed everyone else.
Excellent guide and well needed, I am starting to struggle in the later part of the game now.
Nice one Dave, I spent an hour or so maxing out my levels and upgrading weapons to around level 20 for lightning, sazh and vanille.
I then did com/rav/rav for the most part and med/syn/med after his big attacks, was a piece of piss!
why on the list of bosses dont u hav bosses from gran pulse???
thanks
i'm having truble with fang's eidolon thing...is any one there yet THAT HAS BEAT THE STUPID THING!!!
and would like to help me??!!....PLEASE!!??
(this is the first time i've played a final fantasy game and i'm not the best at rpg games (-_- sad face))
oh and my name isnt realy squigles...well duh...
Thankyou dave, i shall try this :D
I need help with dahaka ive tried multiple times to beat him and i can not do it!! plzzzzzzzz help!
Dahaka:
Dahaka is an really easy boss all you need to do is make sure your characters are a fair way up in their crystiriuam
Just Go In The Tower And Fight Monsters If You Need Some Cp
I Used Light/Fang/Hope
Cast An Aegisol And Fortisol Before The Battle.
When You Enter The Battle You Will Need To Try And Stagger Him So Use A Fang-Sab Light-Rav Hope-Med
Get Your Debuffs On Then Change To
Relelntless Assault To Stagger Him
Once He Is Staggerd Stay On This Till About %800
Then Change To Agression To Do Some Damage
Stay On This Path And You Should Beat Him
Make Sure That When You Need To Heal Change To Combat Clinic
Oh And Have The Evend Odds Paradigm Incase Your Shrouds Go Away =]
do you know how to beat dahaka
Ei guys i knw that this is
the most stupid
and obvious question for u lot, how do you get
a high hp??
Just upgrade your crystarium or upgrade the health accessoriesthat you have on your characters :)
how do ja beat after protoflorian?
I know this is a lame question but this is my first proper FF game (the other one was crystal bearers) and I've noticed they're levels on your weapons but my problem is I don't know how to level them up, I'm at the beginning of the game I guess, just beat the second boss so can someone tell me when or how to do it? Thanks.
Blkboy you have to upgrade them through the save points. Seeing as you still early in the game you probably haven't got to the part where it gets enabled through save points :)
@Dave
Your "forced to upgrade" theory is completely unneccasary.
I failed the first few times against him until i found a good strategy.andi have a lvl6 weapon as my highest and all lvl1 accessories.
I just used Lightning/Fang/Hope with Com/Com/Rav, Med/Sen/Med, and Med/Sab/Syn.
Just focus on the smaller guys while occaisoanlly switching to heal.then when hes alone just beat the hell out of him and switch to med/sen/med when he is about to use a larger attack. As for his devastating destrudo attack, just attack the hell out of him while he is charging. this will cause him to flinch and whn he attacks a few moments later, it will be alot less brutal. just heal and buff afterwards and continue with the assault. just make sure you ATTACK when he is charging and you should be fine.
Also, going in with 'sols doesnt hurt and using odin when all the little guys are still there but weaker worked for me.
This boss is irritating the hell out of me,I'm going to try and lev up with Dave's method... and use one of these strategies. I am very strategic in this game and haven't gotten stuck until this point. I don't think a boss this hard should be included in the game until we have had a chance to level up more without grinding...
@Dingman - Yea? His "forced to upgrade" theory is unnecessary? Well you pointing out your opinion for no reason is to, the guy came up with some good logical reasoning, and you go and shut him down after many people have agreed with him. You found a good strategy, don't boast about other peoples being so bad. Even if you dont wanna use his idea, its still a great grinding spot with heaps of exp to be made.
Okay my bad.
I honestly didnt mean to make it sound like his plan was a bad one.
Because yes it does work.
I was just trying to be helpful and point out another option.
man you guys are srupid the hard bosses are the ediolons manily the final one that girl
@ Final Pro
If were all soo goddamn stupid then at least have the decency to spell it right. I have had the game for just over a week and am up to the final boss now. The eidolons are all easy if you find the right method. For example If you use Sabator (sorry I cant spell that one) to attack 'that girl's' (vanille) Eidolon and have fang only attack occasionally with RAV While almost always healing with her then you should beat it easily. (I think you wont even need to use fang to attack at all)
Oh and if your still having trouble then switch fang to sentinel while it attacks and heal when its finished.
@ Dingman
Sorry man I don't know why but I got a little defensive ae... I'm odd like that. You didnt do anything wrong ae.
Also to add to that theory if you wait till chapter 11 I think it is you will fight sacrifices whice gives perfume to be sold at 12500 gill Which is better than daves theory :)
Sorry For bringing the negi vibes guys.
P.s. if your gonna hate or whatever be sensible and at least spell it correctly unlike "final pro"
I myself love this game and if anyone wants to talk about it or ask for help or share information or whatever my email account is;
patr10t_14@live.com
Could dingman specifically add me please?
I'm not in a great place to judge cause I'm still trying to beat the final boss but, chapter 13 has an amazing grinding spot!
Eden hall you can get there by going through a portal, You can fight sacrifices which give of perfume and a transformational catalyst which you can sell for 12.500 and 7000 Gil.
OK guy's most die hard fans that used this hub have probs finished the game by now. But the final boss form 1 Is very difficult, I believe I have found a better strategy then the one on this hub.
To make it an even better achievement, I didnt use a single attack via ravager or commando, Eidolon (summon), Items or techniques.
All your going to need is vanille, hope and lightning.
Set your paradigims to:
Medic/medic/medic
Sabator/medic/medic
... that's its guys!
Have Vanille as the sabator and have her cast poisonga then poison twice to maximize use of your ATB gauge.
keep casting poison on orphan. this battle took me about 9 minutes without attacking... if that!
Its easy and requires you to only heal when Orphan uses instant red zone attacks or afflicts your status alignments till you cant keep up.
Thats in battle stuff, but while all this is goin on Orhpan will cast instant death on your party, you can counter this by having the anti death accessories that resist death by 30 percent, you can level these up at level 5 or 6 you can do this completely by using 4 perfect conductors which sell for 1600 Gil at leanora's garage, with 3 in your accessories you will have 84% resist death, if you want to go further you can upgrade these with a transformational catalyst, I have forgotten the name but it sells for 30000 Gil at the mother load.
That's all you need to beat orphan, the second form is easy, just stagger and bash... you will be fine. If anyone else is still playing this game I hope this helps and good luck, I got this first strategy right first attempt :)
So im on the second battle with proudclad.
I was close the first time but idk what went wrong really.
just all of a sudden i was dead -.-
Should I even worry about him right now or just grind the sacrifices?
and @Bartandelus=*sigh*
I will but im letting you know i dont use e-mail very often.
@ Dingman
I am the same user as Barthandelus = sigh
I changed it after beating him.
I finished the game in under to weeks so if you wanna know how to beat proudclad, look at my guide to beating the final boss, you will notice it says to grind in eden hall. which is by coincidence where you are up to. grind those sacrifices till you cant no more and just Like I said in the final boss guide I wrote go to a shop and sell all your purfume and that accessory trasnformer for gill
Purfume = 12500 gill
transformation catalyst = 7000
Upgrade weapons accessory's wever you need.
I used light as leader then snow and hope for EVERY battle until the final boss if this helps.
Hope this grinding tactic helps you beat your boss, and hope to hear from you when you add me ;)
@ Matt
yeah thats what i decided to do.
only difference is that im using sazh lightning fang as my party.
i just wish i could play more often. i work too much.
but anyways i sent you an email
@ Dingman
Okay, hope you got proudclad then *thumbs up*
When you fight that final boss your gonna wanna use the party I suggested, cause if you don't and you win.. I'm gonna possibly give you a medal. hahah
I didn't get that email, try again though.
I know it works because someone sent me a random love letter; Hope to hear from you.
@ Dingman, Sorry mate
I got your email... It was in the junk folder... as a few other people have been sending me spam haha sorry.
@Matt
yeah imma just finish upgrading my weapons before i fight him.
just incase i dont get another good oppurtunity to later.
And now i wanna beat the game with my sazh lightning fang party just in the hopes of recieving a medal.
lol
and no problem about the email thing.
like i said, i dont check it often.
oh and have fun with that love letter.
lol
@ SimeyC
I have found a few good methods, but maybe as a bonus to your boss guide you could include some Gil farming techs for newbies that use this hub?
Just a thought. :)
@ Dingman
Okay then, what weapon did you upgrade for lightning?
She's my fav character :P
Has 2500ish strength and haven't even fully upgraded one role, she is amazing compared to other characters.
Now, I know it can be done, so I'm thinking I'm going to try and beat you, I don't even use those characters apart from light, and I can only play once a week,
If you can legit beat the Final boss with that team, send me photo evidence of just before you win the battle. I will see what I can do about a medal. hahaha
I just identified that person as spam so now no-one should get that junk from her :)
HI.. (excuse my english first of all) ,, im stuck on the last boss Bartandelus 2 form. all my characters are level up at top all my weapons and accesories too,lighting/vanille/sazh i use med/med/sync, rav/rav/com rav/sab/sync and rav/med/sync , i keep hiting the bastard and a certain point he use this 1 hit kill attack that put one of my character at 000, no problem cause i can pull him out and full heal like in 5 sec. but the issue is when he target my main character cause the battel end there even tough i been kicking his ass all the time. so what can i do please?!! how can avoid this attack ??....thanks regards.
I posted a full guide that works 3 weeks ago, 9 comments up. It seems you are doing well with attacking, so all you need is a good defense. Just like in the guide I suggest you buy the anti death accessory (cherub's crown), they are cheap and fully upgrade at level 5 or 6. Equip 3 of these to your character and you should be fine. If your still a little hazy, the transformational catalyst can be bought at the mother load for 30000 Gil (it's called Pervoskyite)Which takes the 45% max death resist up to 60% when you max it out.
Have these equipped and your character wont die. Have fun and tell me how you go afterward.
The thing about Primarch Barthandelus is that when he casts Destrudo you have to switch to Relentless assualt and attack until your hear him grunt (its loud) Then with the doom counter, just go all out Diversity, Relentless assualt and Com, Rav, Sen (I used Light, Vanilee, Snow) you can also debuff him.
ps at begining its better to go Soliditary and spam blitz on the armor
Hey everybody I have been trying to defeat LaFalce and I tried everything and nothing is working if anyone can help me choose the best team and everything else so I can defeat LaFalce I would appreciate it
Bro, I have finished the game and would love to help, I goggled La falce because I forgot which boss this is… And It came up with no results.
Please check the spelling, repost and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can ^^,
Hey sorry about that Matt i meant to say Fal'cie. I figured out away to destroy the heads but I keep on dying by destructo. I also figured out which characters to use I use lightning, sazh, and vanille and my paradigms is (com, syn, rav) (com, com, rav) (com, rav, rav) (rav, com, med)(com, com, sab)and (med, com, med) and i'm wondering if that is a good team or not. well thanks SimeyC, and Matt and i will keep on trying.
Ok bro.
I know what you mean. Bartandelus is annoying.
If you scrolled up you would notice I used to say my name was Bartandelus = *sigh* ahaha
Okay, this boss seems difficult and it doesn't matter a great deal what team you have, as long as they are strong.
If you cant beat him now, the best advice I can give you is to farm GIL and buy upgrades for weapons and accessories. That huge room that you save in is a great grinding spot. most of the battles will give you incentive chips or credit chips, you can sell these for large amounts of money compared to other items.
Buy either sturdy bones or vibrant ooze ( from creature comforts store ) and crankshafts from the motherload.
Use 36 sturdy bones or vibrant ooze on the desired weapon or accessory. This will create a multiplier of 3 next time you spend EXP on that weapon when you have done this use as many crankshafts as you want and watch those levels rise like crazy.
If you were committed to spending a few hours doing this you can get a good head start with upgrades for the rest of the game.
1 or two hours and you should have no trouble AT ALL beating Bartandelus ( Fal'Cie )
Destrudo is a power full move so you need to be healing just as much as attacking so that you don't die when it is cast, don't get caught of Gard.
Feel free to take your time once all the Masks have been killed. If you need it :P He will eventually cast death, but thats no big deal, all you have to do is keep hacking and when the death counter gets low, just summon an Eidolen, when the death counter runs out your
Eidolen will resurrect your controlled character as well as fully heal your whole party.
This should be all you need, if anything else is in your way ( It's FF there's ALWAYS something :P )
post another comment here. Or scroll up and get my email.
If you email me, put FF boss guide / help as the subject.
Hope this helps, if not let me know :D
Hey thats Matt so much for the help i really appreciate it I actually defeat him and i really appreciate it. now i have another question i am on the part when you are fighting Vanille's creature (Hecatoncheir) and he is really hard and i trying to upgrade there crystarium and it takes a long time to upgrade because it goes really slow when i upgrade please give me some advise thanks.
All Eidolens are easy to defeat with a good strategy.
For Hecatoncheir the number one attack paradigim is saboteur, I know that debuffing him sounds like suicide... but it works, I could only defeat him like this.
Okay here's what will work.
Set paradigims before battle with Vanillie and Fang (Obviously)
Vanille as saboteur and Fang as senitle.
Vanille as medic and Fang as saboteur ( Ravager saboteur is not available )
and both as a medic if fang is available as a medic :)
Set the paradigm to starting with both as sab or sab and a ravager.
All out attacking, watch how fast that bar goes up! That's because Sab increases chaining, Eidolons are 'impressed' by chaining.
When Hecatoncier finishes charging or just before,
Switch to sab and senitle.
Fang will take damage so you don't die whilst you attack and keep the chain moving.
When it stops attacking heal as fast as possible and then go back to sab, sab or sab and raveger.
if there is not enough time then go back to senitle and sab. get in as much pure attacking as possible or if the doom counter is about to go out and your going to die anyway.
It might be close but I wasted about 2 hours before I realized you only need to use saboteurs, then used that set up and won first time round looking like an idiot.
Glad I help with Bartandelus and hope this helps you again. post any other problems :P
Hey thanks Matt so much for your help i really appreciate it.
And if there is anything i can help with you on a different game i would glad to help if i have the game of course and i hope i can finish the game without asking for help again thats my goal so thanks again talk to you soon
Hey everybody i'm back but this time it's not about video games and i was wondering if u guys can help me it's about this girl i really like and she really likes me, but the problem is she has a bf and she doesn't to hurt him or me and the other thing is she is 15 soon turning 16 and i'm 19 and i need help also we both love each other very much please guys can u help me anybody can help i would appreciate it so much
oh ok thanks simeyC
LOL Brando.
If the guy is any kind of smart he already knows.
Similar thing happened to me I guess it was going to happen 3 months before it did.
Try to avoide the guy, and email me as I have experienced this and could probably offer some help, especially since I was the one who got hurt.
Anyone know when versus comes out?
I really wanna know :D
hello my name is levi i am stuck on the last fight 2 form of Orphan we get him low but he casts doom how do i beat it do i just go all out to kill him out what?
Note for anyone trying to beat Bardandalus and are dying on his second form of destrudo and doom. For destrudo, he will charge for a good four turns or so. If you have upgraded light's sword to a good and high level then you and your com pal should be able to badger him with attacks. If you deal enough damage to him before he fully charges, then he will flinch and destrudo will NOT kill you. It will do damage, but not enough to get you to red. For doom, as others have said, use summon to have him "arise" you.
Levi? What form> 2nd orphan form that looks like a sun or after you beat bartandelus?)
My ps3 broke I am redoing the whole game and can now help with ANY boss as I remember the last two days perfectly, Up to chapter 12 with fully maxed characters up until that point.
Btw, second bartandelus fight, I beat him in 4 minutes and was able to hack through 2 million points with 1 minutes, I'm a beast, just ask for advice and I'll do my best xD
I need to find out how to beat Brynhildr without haste. Do u go up and smash him to bits? Do you buff party a lot? Could anyone help me?
Sazh-Vega lvl 3(knows Bravery Faith Vigilance Enwater)
Vanille-Binding rod lvl 3(knows up to Imperil for debuffs)
Sure buddy.
I didn't lose to him last time I played the game, and one of the main things I did was equip fire resistant accessories. ( if this is the boss in the city of dreams that is) His attacks are fire based, and do heaps of damage. Equips these and give vanille the healing staff so you don't take as much damage, When he charges up is the time to stagger it, if you stagger it just before it attacks, it wont use its ultimate attack. Debuffs are better for this boss as you want to keep the enemy as lightning always says "off balanced". bravery and faith to be cast on sazh and faith on vanille. Enwater mainly on sazh but can be placed on vanille. as fire's weakness is water. If you need more help message me back and I'll fight the boss again. and give you a full guide. ( I kept all the saves.
Hope this helps ;D
thanks so much! i got past brynhildr!
Your Welcome ;D
This is an awesome hub. Final Fantasy rocks. My personal fav is ff7.
I'm having trouble with Barthandelous.... Blehh.....to top off it being reaaally hard, it's friggin scary looking too--(shriveled old man turns into THAT?) I guess from what you said, he comes back like two other times...crap. Right now I'm using lightning, Hope, and Vanille. Next I think I'm gonna try using sazh cuz he can use haste. Maybe snow?? Or fang cuz they can be sentinels. Btw... I thought this was the final boss of the game at first... Lol...
Does anyone know how to beat Hecatoncheir? I've been stuck on him for a while now...
I've got vanille with Belladona wand and fang with bladed lance. belladona wand is lvl 8 and bladed lance is lvl 7
cud anyone help me out??
@Gabby.
If you are on chapter 9 then barthandelus is beaten after one death. In chapter 13 he will be harder to kill as you must defeat him 3 times in succession.
@ Jeffory.
Heres all you need to know... saboteurs :)
Still need help... I guess I can type out a strategy...
Here ye go ;)
All Eidolens are easy to defeat with a good strategy.
Haha, I cant wait!
I almost backflipped when I heard that news.
Pay me? That sounds great xD
If you do a FFIX-2 Article I will be happy to help as I know it can be hard to remember some of the bosses.
Also I love helping people anyway :)
( its nice to be appreciated )
Wow, thanks so much
@ Cribbage
( Not sure who you are... )
But YOUR WELCOME xD!!!
I'm stuck with the Adamankerisu in Chp12... the one after I defeat ProudClad 1, I'd appreciate the advice
Okay! I think the English for Adamankerisu word is 'Adamanchield'
There is no real strategy to defeat these if you don't have high stats. Your going to need to hack and heal a lot. Grind wherever you can.
If you are still having trouble...
Vanille... One of her class abilities is Death.
Located in the 'sabatuer' class ( sorry for spelling )
Once you have this. Use Vanille's death non stop until That beast falls! its that simple!
While you have vanille on sabatuer ( The debuff class encase you play in another language ) It would be wise to debuff the enemy. For example reduce its magic resistance to maximize the chance your Death attack will successfully work. This method may take awhile but will work.
If by MY MISTAKE ( lets hope not ) Its immune to Death ( really don't think it is )
Tell me. I will go to my ps3. Open an old save file up. Defeat the creature whilst writing a guide.
Hope this helps if not let me know and you know the drill ;)
What about doom
To counter a doom clock use your Eidolith. when you die. it will revive you.
For Barthandelus: Lightning, Hope, & Fang. My Lightning's weapon was Gladius, upgraded to Gladius *. I had two accessories on her, both Power Wristbands upgraded to level 4. Fang's Bladed Lance & Hope's Airwing were leveled to 7 or 8, & I gave Hope two accessories: one to boost his HP, & one to up his magic. I think I put a physical resistance accesory on Fang. These upgrades & stuff aren't necessary, but they help out a ton.
Took him out second try, easy peasy. My Paradigms were Bully, Evened Odds, Relentless Assault, Aggression, & Combat Clinic. Use a Librascope to figure out his Pauldron/Ailette weaknesses, & auto-chain him to death, paying VERY special attention to your health level & buffs. After you knock off his armor, start filling up Barthandelus's own chain gauge.
JUST BEFORE it hits the stagger point, summon Odin & auto-battle him until your gestalt gauge fills up. Then auto-gestalt until about 5, then do Zantetsuken. After that, Barthandelus should start getting ready to use Detrudo. Just keep hitting him, even as it's charging (paying attention to your health), & you should knock him "out" so that when he casts it, it takes only about half of your health instead of all of it. If you don't feel confident about your health level after he casts it (because Ruinga, Baptism of Ruin, & Thanatosian Smile can still hurt you), then switch to Combat Clinic (MED/MED/SEN).
Keep hitting him with Aggression (COM/RAV/COM) or Relentless Assault (RAV/RAV/COM) & heal/re-buff as necessary, & you should be golden.
If it works then good job ^^,
Why would you give a pys resistance item to fang when all of bartan's attacks are magic?
I find the best part about games like this is that. The versatility lets people play to their style. so there is no wrong strategy :)
Though I never use Eidoliths... They are too weak.
( lights and vanille's are at least :P )
Thanks for adding another strategy to the list ^^,
I understand man I was stuck on Barthandelus round two for like two months.
Haha! You should have come here.
I can knock at least half of his health down within a minute easy. Beat its within 4:26 on average. The goal time which most people exceed because its so difficult is 9:54 or something ;)
I wanna submit my score somewhere for that battle xD
Especially since I can probably improve it!
I can kill him in exactly 9:05seconds by stopwatch *not intirely accurate time lol
(lightnig,sazh,vanille)..(com,syn,med)to start the battle with the upper hand. THEN i switch to (Rav,com,Rav).. to Stagger quick. Then switch to (Rav,syn, sab) to lower his stats and boost mine. Then i switch back to (Rav,com,Rav). After his stagger is done do the prosses all over again. Its quick and easy
Soo there crystanium is
Lightning commander,ravenger.. later on made her a med to
Sazh Synergic,Commander.. later made him a Ravenger to
Vanille on the other hand i taught her Sabuetor,Medic, and ravenger all at the same time.
Can anyone help me beat Dahaka? He's really annoying and i can never seem to beat him...
I saw your post 3 days ago joey.
Unfortunately I don't know of a good strategy for this boss. I will use the coming weekend to fight and write one if you would like. Its a very hard boss if your under trained. Make sure you grind heaps. Unfortunately the vampires a a ***** to kill fast and this may take hours. The most help I can offer right now is to use anti electricity equipment. Sorry and I'll get back o you by sundy night!
Hahaha! I'm only 16. 17 in October. I'm not old enough!
Otherwise I totally would! I love helping people when I can!
I'ts my thing yea?
Joey! I am Soooo sorry! I don't have a good guide for you yet. I take ages killing this boss and My characters are always maxed out through excessive grinding. at the moment that along with anti lightning equipment is still my best advice :'(
s'okay. i already beat him. lol thanks anyway :D
umm i need help on the adamantortoise, the very first one u fight in eden i maxed out 3 of the maiin roles and i am dying rly fast any advice?
The 'adamantortoise' is not supposed to be deafeated. It can be done. I have done it. But your generally supposed to just keep running through that part. pick up a treasure sphere an see what happens ;)
im stuck on the brynhilder and my charectors don hav haste and i cant find the shroud that gives it to me wut should i do???
Umm, this isn't really about a boss, but could anyone tell me a good team for orphans cradle?thanks:D
no se com es fa libra
I cannot beat proudclad 2. It's ridiculous

Man, your Bartandelus strategy sounds downright useless. I think my party is under-levelled, but I just cant seem to beat the last form he takes. I was getting slaughtered by the pauldrons/ aillettes, but finally I figured out that if you destroy most of them before his second powerup, no problem. So I used Light, Snow, Vanille with Delta attack, and relentless assault, staggered the paul/ail, then used aggression to obliterate it. His magic multiplier is simple: first he uses fire/blizzard/etc., after first mult it upgrades to Fira/Blizzara/etc. Still nothing to worry about. When he upgrades the second time, you better hope you destroyed at least 2 of them, because he'll use Firaga/ Blizzaga/etc. which launches your charaters and makes for a very frustrating battle. But if you stagger and destroy them quickly, the first part of the fight is easy. I had no need for buff/ debuffs. The second phase is where I cant beat him, basically because of destrudo and doom. So with Snow in sentinal, and the other two rav/com, you can take his hits and build up the stagger. when I do stagger him, he just uses destrudo, and it wipes his stagger completely. so I figured out that if you use aggression, you will stun him and destrudo wont wipe out your party. However, you still never get him staggered, and it takes so long to bring his HP down that he'll just use doom until lightning dies and game over. What should I do? would haste make all the difference here?
