Final Fantasy XIII-2 Boss Guide: how to beat the Royal Ripeness

The Royal Ripeness is a tough plant thing – you have to stagger him otherwise you’ll never win – he is constantly healed by a revitalize spell. Immediately he will poison you – so you need the RAV/COM/MED paradigms in action straight away and use Esuna.

The Royal Ripeness will then start whacking you. Use RAV/RAV/RAV or COM, RAV, RAV to stagger him. (Snow joins you but you cannot control him)

Use Deprotect and Deshell until you stagger the Royal Ripeness and then switch immediately to COM/COM/COM to do some major damage.

In the first action sequence – hit SQUARE – you’ll get a Protect – keep on with the above sequence until you remove the majority of the Royal Ripeness’s HP – when you see the Royal Ripeness raise both arms in the air switch to SEN/SEN/SEN otherwise you’re going to be in trouble or pretty dead.

Get back into the same strategy as above and eventually you’ll succeed – if needed switch back to RAV/COM/MED to re-buff and heal.
