The minute you enter Besha Ruins you encounter Paradox Alpha – this can be a fairly tough battle and Paradox Alpha has a Wound Damage that will reduce Max HP (until cured with a Blood Potion). However if you succeed in the cinematic action sequences you will be able to finish off Paradox Alpha pretty quickly.
Start of with RAV/COM – being cautious and waiting while Paradox Alpha attacks a couple of times really helps in this battle – you don’t want to get hammered straight away. In the first cinematic action simply tile the left analog stick to the right – this will buff Noel up with Bravery and buff Serah up with Faith – you also will not receive any damage from the attack.

- COM/COM

- Start with RAV/COM
- Stagger in cinematics
- Switch to COM/COM to do maximum damage.
How to beat Paradox Alpha in Final Fantasy XIII-2
You may be able to stagger the boss quickly during the cinematic action (tilt left analog right and up and then press x), but if not switch between RAV/COM and COM/COM.
If you do stagger then throw all you can at the boss with COM/COM
