Final Fantasy XIII-2 Boss Guide: how to beat Gogmagog
75So far I haven't really noticed the tweaks in the gameplay - it seems and feels much the same as FF XIII, with good graphics, great sound and a fairly challenging game play. I perhaps note that there are far more random encounters though - I also found that as I progressed I needed to do more experience grinding than in previous games.
I am satisfied that this is a better sequel than FF X-2 was - it seems to be better planned and so far the story is intriguing and intereting - while it helps to have played FF 13 first just to get to know the main background, some of the characters and the system, I would suspect that you could play this game as a standalone game easily.
Details of paradigms used during battle with FF XXIII-2 boss Gogmagog:
Make sure you have the following paradigms prepared:
- RAV/COM
- COM/COM
- SEN/SEN
General guide:
- Start with SEN/SEN
- Switch to RAV/COM to stagger
- Switch to COM/COM to do maximum damage.
How to beat Gogmagog in Final Fantasy 13-2
Gogmagog is a pretty easy boss to start off; his Swipe is his primary weapon although he can do a fair amount of damage with Ruin (although in some cases it is negligible).
Initially you won’t be able to do anything against Gogmagog and you should simply defend using SEN/SEN.
You will notice he will raise his hands before the swipe, so use this as a sign that you should change paradigms back to SEN/SEN.
Once the battles starts in earnest, switch to RAV/COM and let Serah stagger the Gogmagog – it doesn’t take that long. Switch to COM/COM once staggered and begin to hit Gogmagog with everything you have. Gogmagog will fight back hard and get ready for an attack of Ruin and/or Swipe– you may survive this on COM/COM, but as it can do a fair amount of damage you can switch to SEN/SEN and then back to COM/COM once the Ruin/Swipe has completed.
You will encounter Gogmagog a second time as you move out of the area – he’ll have a shield which gives him invulnerability until he is staggered.
Use the above method again to quickly stagger him – you can use RAV/RAV to stagger too, but RAV/COM seems to work very well. COM/COM will soon bring him down – be careful to defend against the swipe again.
