Final Fantasy XIII-2 Atlas Boss Walkthrough

So Final Fantasy XIII-2 finally came out and it seems to be worth the wait – there’s really not that much different and if you played the original game you should be able to find your way around the new game pretty quickly.

As you begin to play Final Fantasy XIII-2 you’ll find that you’re going to be in the thick of it straight away. One of the first bosses you come up again is probably familiar if you played the demo. Atlas is quite a difficult boss to start off with, so be prepared for a long and grueling game.

I suggest you actually try and do a lot of experience grinding early on to get your experience up and start leveling your characters and unlocking some of the key elements of the paradigms. I’d look for some healing paradigms and some attacking paradigms early on as the bosses are not that tricky, but you’ll need to work on those more complex paradigms soon too.

Details of paradigms used during battle with FF XXIII-2 boss Atlas:

Make sure you have the following paradigms prepared:

  • RAV/COM/SEN
  • RAV/RAV/SEN
  • COM/RAV/RAV
  • RAV/COM/MED

General guide:

  • Start with RAV/COM/SEN and switch to RAV/RAV/SEN.
  • If you’re cursed use RAV/COM/MED - this will allow you to launch attacks.
  • Once staggered, magic and physicals will do normal damage – continue to attack – I tended to use COM/RAV/RAV

How to beat Atlas in Final Fantasy 13-2

As you move through the ruins towards atlas, after the cut scene you should see a chest on the left. Look for a tunnel and follow it through until you have a choice of moving left or right. Going left will lead you to a chest and a monster from a side quest – go right and kill the monsters that you come across.

Eventually you’ll get another cut scene and will be teleported to the rift – collect the crystals – this is a little tricky and may require patience.

Once you’ve completed this you’ll have to fight Atlas. This is a slug fest so you’re essentially going to try and do a lot of damage and try and stagger.

When you meet Atlas attack aim to switch paradigms often so you can maximize damage. Ice is powerful against Atlas. (See suggestions on right)

Be wary of his swing – make sure you are fully healed as the fist hits everyone - Noel has the highest health so try and get him to take the hit – keep using the above attacks and stagger him.

The key to this battle is to be relentless – don’t give him the opportunity to hit you.
