FIFA World Cup Merchandise

I must admit that as a child I used to dress up in my England Football kit and cheer on England at the world cup; as the FIFA 2010 World Cup approaches, I have grown beyond wearing soccer kits, but I have bought myself a nice England sweat shirt to wear as I support England and the current PFA player of the year, Wayne Rooney.

As I looked around for England gear to wear, I was pretty amazed at the different types of equipment and memorabilia available for this year’s FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Here are some of the interesting and varied items I have found.

Zakumi – the mascot.

I have to say that out of all the World Cups I have watched I can never remember a mascot. However, South Africa seems to have done a great job as not only do I know that there is a mascot, I also know what he looks like. The name ‘Zakumi' is a composition of ‘ZA' standing for South Africa and ‘kumi', which translates into ‘10' in various languages across Africa. For me he seems to have a fun attitude, and his bright colors and his sheer energy really seem to enhance the World Cup!

FIFA 2010 World Cup Shirts

Probably the best way to support your team is to buy the official FIFA World Cup Jersey. These Jersey’s are extremely comfortable to wear, wash really easily and tend to get stolen by daughters! My daughter stole one of my old Jerseys many years ago. They are actually excellent jerseys to wear in summer as they are light-weight and have a cooling effect – not only that, but they look pretty awesome too!

FIFA 2010 World Cup Shorts

What would you look like just wearing your World Cup Jersey – you of course have to get the matching shorts so that you look the part. Again, these shorts are very comfortable and definitely are cooling in summer – they are obviously great for playing soccer in, but more than that, they are perfect for a trip down the beach. When you wear these with the matching World Cup Jersey, be careful not to be mistaken for a star soccer player.

FIFA 2010 World Cup Socks

Well you have the shirt and the shorts so you may as well go all the way and get the socks. These soccer socks are very comfortable, and are a perfect accompaniment to the rest of your gear – watch out though, your wife will steal these in winter as they are nice and thick and warming! You'll look great if you can manage to keep them!

FIFA 2010 World Cup Pins

It’s very disappointing to me that for the majority of the tournament I will actually have to go to work – more than that I won’t be able to wear my England sweat shirt – the only thing I can do is to subtly place an official FIFA World Cup pin on my shirt, and support my team. These pins are all pretty cool, and in fact the whole 32 team set is really nice and I might just have to get a set myself – it’ll look nice on my sports wall in my basement.

FIFA 2010 World Cup Soccer Ball

You’ve got the full kit now, so how about a kick around? Don’t use that old soccer ball that’s been sitting in the garage for months, and probably is flat now anyway – get one of these official Adidas balls – they are the latest design and are guaranteed to make you as good as Wayne Rooney – well maybe not quite as good, but at least you’ll look as cool as Wayne Rooney!
