Coach Ladies Pocket Books and bags
By SimeyC
The best quality high street handbags.
My wife is a pocket-book-aholic. While she is currently undergoing a twelve point plan to cure her addiction, which includes sorting through her collection of dozens of pocket books, there is one part of her addiction I doubt I’ll ever be able to cure.
Coach handbags are perhaps her biggest downfall – while expensive, they are of such quality that they will last forever – so while my wife will be able to reduce her general addiction, she may always have to supplement her needs with a Coach handbag.
So why Coach?
Coach is an American leather company that is mostly known for its quality ladies’ pocket books (as well as mens) – however, they also produce some timeless accessories such as wallets, briefcases, belts, shoes and watches. One thing you know is that even though their items cost far more than traditional items, their quality is such that it’s more of a lifetime investment as their products will out-last most of the high-street brands.
One thing I learnt from my mother is that if you spend $20 on a pair of leather boots then you will get $20 worth of use! Thus spending a lot more to buy a pair of boots that lasts 20 years actually saves you a lot of money in a lifetime – the same goes for Coach products, and especially Coach pocket books.
What I found interesting, although I won’t admit it to my wife, is that the Coach pocket books she owns are the only ones she re-uses – it may take a year or two, but they never seem to be out of fashion, and she always goes back to them eventually – so they are worth it!
About Coach
Originally called Manhattan Leather Bags when they opened in 1941 in Manhattan, the company began as a family-owned business with six workers who made small leather goods. Miles and Lillian Cahn joined the business in 1946, and with their skill and knowledge it wasn’t long before they took over the running of the company – their constant innovation and research found methods to make leather soft and strong.
Lillian suggested that they begin to make more affordable handbags while still concentrating on quality. Soon the brand name Coach was assigned to some of these products, and because of their quality the name Coach became synonymous with quality.
Coach perhaps capitalized mostly on this by hiring a famous fashion designer (Bonnie Cashin) and this proved to be one of the best moves for the company as they started to get a name for innovation in their design.
In the 70s and 80s their business really grew and helped them become a household name – this probably lead to their sale to Sara Lee in 1986 – Sara Lee took over the running of the company and soon Coach products were sold in Macys, and moved into many other high-street stores shortly after.
Currently they are sold all over the world and are still synonymous with quality – as much as I hate to say it, but they certainly are the best pocket books available in the high-street at prices normal people can afford!
